Director of Music welcomed
as President of the Northampton & District Organists'
Association
St
Matthew's Director of Music, Stephen Moore, was welcomed
as President of the Northampton and District Organists'
Association at their AGM on Saturday 10 November. At the
meeting, which was held in
St Matthew's Parish Centre,
Honorary Secretary, Roger Smith, reported the following:
"We
meet today at St. Matthew’s, and for
those of us old enough to recall its
illustrious Directors of Music of
yesteryear, it is uplifting to be back
and see the church resuming its
significance within the NDOA once again.
With its current Director of Music,
Stephen Moore, poised to become our next
President (the first from St. Matthew’s
since Andrew Shenton wore the mantle 24
years ago), it is with great
anticipation that we look forward to a
renaissance with a church which has
played such an important part in the
musical culture of the town over so many
years and gave the NDOA its first
President, Charles King."
Stephen was presented with the president's medal and
becomes the first St Matthew's Director of Music to hold
the presidency since Andrew Shenton in 1988! St
Matthew's will be playing host to quite a few NDOA
events over the next 12 months and so it was encouraging
to see members of the association and of St Matthew's
congregation come together at a service which followed
the AGM.
Stephen will keep you updated on these events as and
when they occur.
The Director of Music, Thomas Moore, is
looking to recruit BOYS from school year 4
to 7 and GIRLS from school year 5 upwards
who are keen to sing and eager to learn.
