After the
weather forecasts were looking decidedly dodgy for the
Saturday of our Summer Fete, thankfully the morning and
afternoon of 11 June turned out to be dry if not blessed
with sunshine.
Just round the corner the Carnival was attracting crowds
of people on the Racecourse and even our own Uniformed
Groups were absent at a camp weekend, so numbers were
down this year on the green at St Matthew’s. But we
still had a good time; there was plenty to entertain all
ages with a rich variety of games, stalls, classic cars,
afternoon teas etc and it was, as always, a wonderful
opportunity to meet and
chat with
the families and individuals that came along, some of
whom might not normally come to the church itself,
whilst helping to raise funds for the church.
The Director of Music, Thomas Moore, is
looking to recruit BOYS from school year 4
to 7 and GIRLS from school year 5 upwards
who are keen to sing and eager to learn.
