Christian Aid Week 2019

A huge Thank You to everyone who supported Christian Aid Week. We did exceptionally well this year and a grand total of £1107.85 was raised. With gift aid a further £81.00 will be added to this. This is the highest amount we have raised in well over 10 years.

The focus this year was on expectant mums in Sierra Leonne. Our donations could help to build more health clinics, provide health training and improve hygiene so mums and babies could live long and happy lives.

How did we do this?

A Coffee Morning and Tombola was held on Saturday 11 May, when £233.50 was raised.
A total of 35 people sat down to a Big Brekkie on Saturday 18 May. We raised £365.00 at this event.
Envelopes handed out in church raised £509.35.

I would like to thank those members of the congregation who couldn’t attend one or both of the events but kindly gave donations.

Also, many thanks to all those who contributed in any way. Special thanks to Elizabeth for always doing the tombola, did the shopping for the breakfast and along with Marva did the cooking. Gary for printing the posters and tickets and setting up for the breakfast and clearing up afterwards. Glenda for helping out throughout the morning. Jean and Christine M for helping to serve and clear up afterwards. Chris L-T for helping at the coffee morning. All those who gave prizes for both raffles and items for the tombola and made cakes. And lastly to Fr Nicholas Gandy for the opening prayer at the Breakfast as Fr Nicholas Setterfield was unable to attend due to being away with the choir.
