On Easter
Sunday the choir's new robes were blessed as part of the
10.15am Mass. The robes have been bought by the Friends
of St Matthew's Music and through private donations.
Made by Watts & Co. of London, they are in the
traditional style and help the choir to match the
glorious architectural surroundings of St Matthew's
Church.
The choir can now be seen sporting their new Cassocks
and Surplices at all Choral Services and are looking
forward to taking them on tour to Portsmouth and the
South Coast in August this year, where they will sing
concerts in St Peter & Paul Church, Fareham
(7
August), The Church of the Holy Spirit, Southsea (9
August) and services in Portsmouth Cathedral (10 and 11
August). The choir look forward to a busy time in the
near future, including the release of their first CD,
the ever-popular Be a Chorister for a Day on Sunday 16
June and major events to mark
St Matthew's Day and the 120th Anniversary of the church
building in September. Details of all these events can
be found on this website.
The Director of Music, Thomas Moore, is
looking to recruit BOYS from school year 4
to 7 and GIRLS from school year 5 upwards
who are keen to sing and eager to learn.
