This year
we had another successful Christian Aid Week at St
Matthew’s, managing to raise £871.97; with Gift Aid
added the final amount stands at £928.72.
This is slightly down from last year for various reason
(the Royal Wedding clashing with the Breakfast being
one!) but St Matthew’s still remains the sixth highest
giver out of over 30 churches in the Northampton area.
Here is a breakdown of how the money was raised:
|
Coffee Morning |
£215.00 |
|
Breakfast |
£310.00 |
|
Donations through the red envelope handed
out in church |
£323.72 |
|
Collection tin inside the church |
£23.25 |
|
|
|
|
Total Amount |
£871.97 |
|
Total amount including Gift Aid |
£928.72 |
Thanks to all those who have contributed in any way, and
special thanks go to Elizabeth March and Jane Roberts
for cooking the breakfast, to Alan March for his time,
and the general help he gave all morning, and also to
Gary for setting up. Thanks also to those who
contributed to the fundraising events even though they
were unable to attend. Your generosity by purchasing
tickets, donations for the Tombola and raffle prizes has
helped quite significantly.
Christian Aid Plan
This year the focus is on Haiti because of the enormous
impact on the community following the recent hurricane
and in general some of the Caribbean Islands. The money
raised will transform the lives of the community in
these islands in ways we could not imagine.
Finally, the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby
encouraged us to dig deep into our pockets, and I must
say that we did exactly that at St Matthew’s.
Thanks again for all your support.
